NextGen Healthcare Information Systems Receives HIPAA Transaction Certification from Claredi

HIPAA Readiness Verified through Independent Certification

Horsham, Pa., October 31, 2002 — NextGen Healthcare Information Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: QSII), today announced that Claredi has tested and certified the NextGen EPM (Enterprise Practice Management) ASC X12 837 health care claim transactions as HIPAA compliant. Both professional and institutional versions of the 837 transaction were certified.

The NextGen EPM application supports the creation of a native 837 electronic claims file without use of a translator or other third-party data conversion tool. NextGen EPM customers will also have the ability to seamlessly process returned 835 remittance files, and will be able to create and send electronic secondary claim files. These product features facilitate compliance with the transaction and code set requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
