MMIC Adds MicroMed's Practice Management System and Electronic Medical Records To Medportal Web Site
MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- MMIC(TM) Technology Solutions, a member of the MMIC Group of Companies, recently signed an agreement with MicroMed Healthcare Information Systems, a division of California-based Quality Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: QSII - news), to bring MicroMed's NextGen products to its MMIC(TM)medportal Web site in the second quarter of this year. The Medportal Web site is for physicians, clinic managers and their staff.

Under the agreement, MMIC(TM) Technology Solutions will market MicroMed's suite of healthcare software, delivered through either an Application Service Provider model or as a traditional client-server solution. Practices will be able to choose between MicroMed's NextGen Enterprise Practice Management System and NextGen Electronic Medical Record application. In addition, MMIC(TM) Technology Solutions will offer MicroMed's NextMD, a consumer healthcare portal, that allows patients who visit their physician's Web site to view clinic and financial information, request office visits, send secure messaging to the physician or staff, request prescription refills, and gain access to educational material, all on a secure on-line environment.

The MMIC(TM)medportal Web site is a one-stop shop for physicians, clinic managers and their staff seeking healthcare technology products and service. On the Web site, healthcare professionals will find such products and services as MD Consult (an on-line clinical information resource for physicians), transcription services, secure messaging services, on-line coding, compliance and other business tools, a nationwide physician directory, healthcare news headlines, and on-line risk management publications, seminars and videotapes.

"We've developed our Web site with the independent physician's interest in mind, providing a wide range of technology products and services geared specifically for their needs,'' said Steve Gerberding, vice president of operations, MMIC(TM) Technology Solutions. "We thoroughly researched several systems before making the decision to go with MicroMed. The quality and ease of use of their NextGen products will help our customers increase efficiency, reduce costs and enhance revenue, while adding value to the Medportal Web site. We think physicians will find these new offerings to be of tremendous benefits.''

MMIC(TM) Technology Solutions' staff will market, implement, train and support the practice management and electronic medical records systems. "We will provide the same high quality support and excellent customer service to our technology clients that our insurance clients have come to expect from MMIC,'' added Gerberding.
