MicroMed
and DrFirst.com to Offer Rapid Deployment of NextGen Applications
Using ASP Model
HORSHAM,
Pa. MicroMed Healthcare Information Systems Inc., a division
of Quality Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:QSII - news), today announced
that DrFirst.com has been named a "Preferred ASP Partner"
of MicroMed.
Under
the agreement, DrFirst.com purchased a global license to provide
NextGen(emr), MicroMed's Electronic Medical Records software and
NextGen(epm), MicroMed's Enterprise Practice Management software
solutions to physician practice groups using an Application Service
Provider ("ASP") business model.
DrFirst.com's
proprietary deployment technology can make these traditionally
high-end solutions affordable to small practices. DrFirst.com
offers health care providers a comprehensive set of remotely managed
Internet enabled practice management, communications and business
productivity solutions. As an ASP, DrFirst.com hosts software
applications at its facilities and leases use of them to its members.
DrFirst.com manages the network, provides full Information Technology
support to members, installs the system, and trains new users.
The low monthly subscription fee saves DrFirst's members from
being required to make an upfront cash outlay. DrFirst.com's solution
is particularly appropriate for smaller physician practice groups
that have not previously been able to afford top quality software
solutions. DrFirst.com already has several practice groups "live"
using the NextGen products.
The
agreement also calls for DrFirst.com to provide certain Internet
security solutions to MicroMed. DrFirst.com created the solutions
with technology developed by its business partner, V-ONE Corporation
(Nasdaq:VONE - news).
"DrFirst.com
has made a significant commitment to the market and to best-of-breed
solutions," said Patrick Cline, President of MicroMed. "The
relationship allows MicroMed to expand market share and add incremental
revenue using the ASP business model. We are impressed by DrFirst.com's
Internet security and wireless messaging solutions, and we look
forward to offering their solutions to our customers."
"We
spent a great deal of time studying the various physician practice
management and electronic medical records software packages, and
we determined that the MicroMed products were the best,"
said James F. Chen, Chairman and CEO of DrFirst.com. "We
are pleased to offer these quality software applications to our
members. We believe there is a great deal of synergy between our
companies, and we look forward to working closely with MicroMed
in the future."
