Quality Systems Signs Agreement with University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine to Implement a Practice Management System

TUSTIN, Calif., August 10, 1999 -- Quality Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: QSII) announced today that it has signed an agreement with the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine to implement QSI’s dental practice management system at the university.

The QSI System will centralize the operations of both the dental school and faculty practice by providing practice management as well as pre/post doctoral software functionality.  These applications include appointment scheduling, treatment planning, utilization reporting, billing and accounts receivable, student grading, patient/student assignment and rotation scheduling.  The system operates on an advanced IBM RS/6000, and will link together multiple offices and practice sites.

For nearly 100 years, the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine has been an integral component of Pitt’s acclaimed Health Science programs.  Since its founding in 1896 as the Department of Dental Surgery, the school has been educating highly qualified professionals to meet the oral health needs of Western Pennsylvanians and society at large.

In the clinical area, the school provides dental services for nearly 100,000 patients per year throughout Western Pennsylvania and the surrounding region.  Sixty post-graduate, 300 pre-doctoral and 60 dental hygiene students are currently enrolled.

Greg Schneider, DDS, Associate Dean for the school, said, “We needed a sophisticated practice management system that could efficiently handle our complex billing processes at our practices.  This system also needed to integrate with the student management features to accurately track activities.  QSI, a proven leader in both areas, has exactly what we needed.”

Greg Flynn, Executive Vice President at Quality Systems, added, “We are extremely pleased to add University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine to the growing list of dental schools utilizing the QSI system. We now have eleven prestigious institutions employing our system, which cumulatively represent a significant percentage of the graduating population of dentists each year.”

Quality Systems is one of the leading developers and providers of computer-based practice management and electronic medical records systems for medical and dental group practices, with a customer base of approximately 500 clients in 45 states, Canada and Saudi Arabia.
