QUALITY SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES AGREEMENT WITH VENICE FAMILY CLINIC FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF INTEGRATED PRACTICE MANAGEMENT AND EMR SOLUTION

TUSTIN, Calif., March 23, 1999 -- Quality Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:QSII) announced today an agreement with Venice Family Clinic of Venice, California for the joint implementation of QSI’s Medical System and the NextGen® Electronic Medical Records System, the product of Quality Systems’ subsidiary Clinitec International, Inc.  The agreement calls for an initial installation of the practice management software, with a roll-out of the electronic medical records beginning in September.

Venice Family Clinic is a private, non-profit, free clinic founded in 1970 by Dr. Phillip L. Rossman, co-founder Dr. Mayer Davidson, and local community members who were alarmed by the lack of access to health care for low income and homeless families in the area.  Today, Venice Family Clinic is the largest free clinic in the United States.  Approximately 2,000 volunteers, including 500 medical and mental health professionals, provide free, high-quality medical care to over 17,000 children and adults.

The Medical System will address the unique needs of the Clinic through its specialized features oriented to Federally-Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), such as sliding fee scales, UDS reporting, and family size and income tracking.  The Medical System also provides a broad base of practice management functionality, including insurance processing, accounts receivable, and patient scheduling.

Clinitec’s NextGen® is an innovative electronic medical records system designed to improve quality of care and increase productivity.  NextGen creates and maintains complete medical records with minimal effort while streamlining workflow, controlling utilization, and managing critical data related to outcomes of patient care.  The system automatically creates documents and letters, manages prescriptions and clinical images, provides patient education, and exchanges data with hospitals, labs and practice management systems.

Elizabeth Benson Forer, Executive Director of the Venice Family Clinic, stated that, “Venice Family Clinic is very proud to have purchased the QSI System and NextGen.  We selected QSI because they are one of the only vendors in the industry that provides user-friendly practice management and electronic medical records capabilities in one package.”

Greg Flynn, Quality Systems’ Executive Vice President, said of the agreement, “Venice Family Clinic is a very unique organization, and they needed a unique solution.  We believe that they made the right decision in selecting our integrated offerings for business and clinical automation.  We have many years of experience working with large FQHCs like Venice Family Clinic, and we understand their special needs.”

Quality Systems is one of the leading developers and providers of computer-based practice management and electronic medical records systems for medical and dental group practices, with a customer base of approximately 500 clients in 45 states, Canada and Saudi Arabia.
